Vinh Moc Tunnel

Lying north of the Ben Hai River in central Vietnam, Vinh Moc Tunnel was built to shelter people from the intense bombing of Son Trung and Son Ha communes in Vinh Linh county of Quang Tri Province in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone. With a total length of nearly 2,000m long, the tunnel complex has 6 entrances to the tops of hills and 7 entrances to the South China Sea. Vinh Moc Tunnel was strategically located on the border of North Vietnam and South Vietnam, successful protecting villagers from losing their lives in the war, which has an important and memorial meanings in Vietnam’s history.

Nowadays, Vinh Moc Tunnel has become a famous tourist attraction. In comparison to the Cu Chi tunnels, walking through the Vinh Moc tunnels is a lot more comfortable, because they are situated in a less humid climate zone and the height of the tunnels allows even non-eastern people to stand upright.
