Wat Rong Khun

Wat Rong Khun, also well-known as White Temple, is an unconventional Buddhist temple, really different from the traditional ones. It is a majestic masterpiece designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997, which is like a giant crystal-white castle.

Combined traditional Thai architecture and the surreal - painted white to symbolize the purity of Buddha, covered in mosaics of mirrors, Wat Rong Khun amazes all the visitors with its impressive complex and exquisite workmanship. All around the complex are intricate sculptures of demons, skulls, severed heads hung on trees and other weird objects.

Walk over a bridge to enter the sanctity of Wat Rong Khun, where instead of the traditional Buddha life scenarios, the contemporary scenes and icons of popular culture dominate the temple. Murals of Batman, Superman, Predator and other contemporary things are seen in the interior.
